On the evening of August 7, 2023, we transition from the month of Yin Earth Goat to the energies of the Yang Metal Monkey. We have arrived at the most important month of the year!
Here is the starting moment of the month:
August 2023 – The most important turning point of the year: the Month of the Yang Metal Monkey
The
Goat month was a transitional period between the old and the new. For many, it brought experiences of
letting go and a sense of endings, which were necessary to help stagnant or dysfunctional situations move forward. It has become clear that some things can no longer continue as they were — whether in work or relationships. Yet, the new system remains difficult to see. In fact, it's incredibly hard to see through the thick fog cast over us by this year’s Yin Water energy. This is why, back in the February analysis, I wrote that we must connect to invisible forces: prayer, meditation—tools that allow us to see beyond the walls of ego and chaos.
The Year of the
Rabbit’s Yin Wood energy forms a strong combination with the Yang Metal this month, meaning that the themes of the year may now appear more tangibly through events.
The earthly nature of the
Goat month symbolized material matters and drew attention to questions of safety and home. Financial concerns may have surfaced, particularly for those whose birth charts include the Dog and Ox animal symbols.
Although the energy of the Monkey month may appear lighter and more humorous than the Goat’s focus on material and personal safety, it can also be sharp and confronting. This refers to the decisions we must now make to end the “old” and initiate the “new.” The month carries a strong metal element, calling on everyone to define clearly what kind of life they want to live. Now is the time to decide on your goals — and the abundant metal energy helps with that.
In
Chinese astrology, the metal element corresponds to the planet Venus. Both Venus and the four Romance Flowers (Peach Blossom Star: PB in the destiny chart!) in the birth chart raise questions around
ethics, fairness, and how to proceed in relationships. August is a time of deep introspection—a period of reckoning. Consider how aligned your inner desires and your outward actions are.
This is a time of internal conflict between heart and mind.
Let’s examine the interactions of elements at the moment the Yang Metal Monkey month begins.
What does this overwhelming metal energy call our attention to?
Perseverance:
Despite difficulties in work or relationships, the test now is perseverance. This will measure how truly committed you are to achieving your goals.
Courage:
Do you have the courage to act ethically towards yourself? To act in alignment with your unconscious desires?
Honor:
How honest are you? This applies to both work and personal relationships.
In August, we have the chance to see more clearly through the fog.
Flash insights may strike like lightning (due to the presence of double
Academic Stars). The Yin Fire acts as a small lantern, carrying knowledge crucial for moving forward. Pay close attention to these flashes. Even if we understand the way forward, the month will feel like one step forward and two steps back. That’s because in August, we’re met with obstructive, slowing energies from the outside world (Yin Fire – Yin Water 7 Killings opposition). This feeling is further amplified by the Rabbit–Rooster opposition. We may
want to progress efficiently and in an organized way (Rooster IW day pillar), but
late-summer delays (Rabbit IR) slow us down.
What we plan now may not be executed as intended, because countless urgent tasks may arise that demand immediate attention. If you feel this delay, don’t worry—it will ease in the fall.
How can we use this energy?
Reflect, review, and consider what needs to change — this may affect your relationships, self-expression, work, or financial plans.
The silver lining is that even amidst obstacles and delays,
invisible help and divine guidance are with us (the Monkey’s associated
Virtue Star aligns with the year’s main energy — Yin Water). Be aware of this hidden support. All your goals are achievable, and help may appear when you least expect it. Pay attention to comforting friends, support from parents, or helpful colleagues (Nobleman Stars associated with the Monkey and Rooster metal elements are there to help you)!
The Monkey’s strong metal energy acts like an electric jolt, forcing our souls to confront difficult, illuminating truths. The metal element casts a light on our lives that we must bravely face, even if it feels hard.
The four
Peach Blossom Stars strongly emphasize romantic ties and relationships. What haven’t you done yet that now must be clarified for your new path? What tough, heart-tempering decision must you make with perseverance and honesty? Observe how you behave in your relationships. Have you hurt others or been hurt? Have you lied or hidden something? Are your interactions with your boss, coworkers, or work ethics truly ethical?
The abundance of metal this month, according to the month’s chart start time, represents the element of money (as wealth structure):
Of course, how the metal element plays out depends on your individual birth chart — it could represent different life areas or personality traits. Collectively, however, the chart indicates that money will be a dominant theme in our decision-making. With a lot of metal energy, the desire to help others, jump into new situations, impatience, and entrepreneurial spirit all increase. But this drive is also slowed by external obstructive forces. This tension can be intense, so the best advice is to rest and recharge. Drink plenty of water and focus on clean eating.
Most importantly: Don’t get frustrated if your projects don’t progress as planned this month. This is a month of braking energy. For some, it may hurt; for others, it could push them toward a new path entirely. Imagine a roadblock forcing you to take a route you’ve never seen before. Along this new path, you redefine your destination — possibly discovering something far better than what you originally set out to find.
Relationships, jobs, or situations that seemed fine just weeks ago may suddenly end. That’s the nature of metal — it cuts, divides, severs. This also means something must be released in order to embrace the new. And that’s why the tests of the metal element can be so tough.
Still, we must not forget: the
metal element also represents the voice of the heart, the highest form of LOVE. Ask for the vibrational level of love in your prayers, and approach every situation with love. This is energy vibrating at the level of 500 according to Hawkins’ scale. People with strong metal elements often have the biggest hearts, full of compassion. August is the month of the heart’s message — listen closely to what it tells you. Every delaying, obstructive energy helps bring this message into focus.
In August, solutions may flash into your mind (Academic Stars carry knowledge from higher realms). Listening to these, you can access subconscious self-expressions and ideas gifted to you, offering guidance for your future.
Monthly forecasts always depend on individual charts. The most important thing is to identify which life area the dominant element (metal) influences for you and how that element functions according to your personal Day Master. Once you figure that out, your chart starts to “speak,” and doors open to help guide your path.
I wish you to embrace the upcoming changes with love!
